Contact Your Legislators
It is critically important that we let our legislators know what we want and expect. You can find your legislators at https://whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov/index.php/legislator. Enter your address and it will give you the names and contact information for your state and federal legislators.
The 5 Calls app (https://5calls.org/) will automatically connect you to your legislators and give you a script to help you express your concerns.

Write Postcards
Peninsula Indivisible writes a LOT of postcards. We provide names, addresses and postcards. We get together for postcard writing events and also distribute packages of cards to people who like to write at home.
We write to: voters, legislators, and to neighbors to invite them to events
Host a House Party
The purpose of these houseparties is not fundraising for a candidate or event introducing a candidate. The purpose is to meet like minded neighbors and build a community of like minded people. We are stronger together and we need to find each other.
If you would like to host a House Party, Peninsula Indivisible will help you by writing invitations to strong democrats in your neighborhood and by helping the day of your event, if you would like
Protest
Protesting is one of the most satisfying ways of making ourselves heard.
The Williamsburg JCC Indivisible Group hosts Freedom Fridays. They meet on many (but not all) Fridays at 12 Noon, Williamsburg James City County Courthouse, 5201 Monticello Avenue.
The new group 50501 is also hosting protests.
Be Visible – with thought provoking sayings
Normalize being a progressive! Use signs and t-shirts and more to let people know that you are proud to be a progressive. If you put out yard signs, be sure to fly an American flag as well. It is OUR flag, not just the conservatives.

T-Shirts and other clothing

Door mats
Talk to people while you’re waiting in lines!
Put stickers in public places.

Tell Your Story
Your story is one of the most powerful tools you have. Many people back away from political discussions, but politics affects all of our lives, everyday. Your life experiences and those of the people close to you are a compelling way of discussing issues.

Don’t Give Up
Use Your Energy Wisely. We’re in this fight because we care about our family, our friends, our country, marginalized people, but we need to take care of ourselves as well. If you’re tired, rest. Spend time with the people you love and the people who help you recharge.
Rest
We are all in this together. Don’t give up. Lean on each other. Reach out when you need to. We are here for you.
